Correspondence to Alma Mahler, 1953-1956.

Einem mostly discusses musical compositions on which he is currently working and performances of his works; there are frequent mentions of his colleague, the conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos. He asks Alma's permission to dedicate a piano composition to her (Klavierkonzert No. 1) and tells her of its first performance in 1956. At times he talks with lively feeling about the work of Gustav Mahler.
